TAGCAST announced a new product "PaperBeacon" on 25 May 2015. It was developed in collaboration with TEIJIN LIMITED and a University of Tokyo spin-off venture company, Cellcross Co., Ltd.
PaperBeacon can identify a specific place such as a table that the conventional beacons cannot. For this reason, it will give us high user experiences we had never known before and make a big impact on the O2O business by its remarkable convenience.
"PaperBeacon" was born as the world's first beacon product by gathering global standard technologies from Japan.
Generally, normal beacons cannot provide services by identifying place because their signals spread to space widely. However, PaperBeacon emits strong signals within a few centimeters range.
Once you lay PaperBeacon on the table, you can identify the table.
Spectators can order drink or something while they remain seated. In addition, deliverer can find where the orderer is, even if the seats are crowded.
Attendance will be recorded by putting tablets on desks. These tablets also can display the teaching materials automatically, depending on the student.
Classes will be smarter than ever. For example, teachers can play the same educational videos simultaneously or limit internet access during class.
